At ThetaRay, our culture is built on purpose, passion, and people. That’s why we’re proud to introduce the Spirit of ThetaRay Award, a quarterly spotlight on team members who go above and beyond, not just in what they do, but in how they do it.

Our first-ever recipient is Luis Denis, and if you’ve ever worked with him, this recognition comes as no surprise.

Luis, based in our Madrid office, plays a key role in serving both European and global customers. His commitment to excellence, innovation, infectious energy, and customer-first mindset have made a powerful impact—on projects, on outcomes, and on people.

When asked what this award means to him, Luis shared:

“It is such an honor. I’ve poured my heart into our projects, and to have my teammates recognize that effort means the world to me. It reminds me why I show up every day: to learn, contribute, and have fun with this amazing group.”

Luis exemplifies one of our core values: Driven to Succeed. For him, success isn’t just about outcomes. It’s about the effort, the knowledge-sharing, and the small acts that help everyone move forward. Whether he’s perfecting a delivery or dropping a new trick in the team Slack, Luis shows up for the team—consistently.

His manager, Senior Director Head of Data Gal Hagag, described it best:

“Luis led a recent complex project with aggressive timelines, demonstrating purpose-driven focus and accountability by proactively building the solution foundations even before kickoff, saving critical time. He showed agility and collaboration by listening to feedback, adjusting the approach, and delivering outstanding results and swift time, showcasing ThetaRay’s true value. Above all, the way he brought the team together to pursue a common goal truly embodied the spirit of ThetaRay.”

But what sets Luis apart goes beyond technical talent.

In fact, when asked to reflect on a standout moment from the past quarter, Luis didn’t choose a project milestone—he chose a simple team breakfast:

“Honestly, one of my favorite memories wasn’t even project-related: our team breakfast. Seeing everyone relaxed, chatting, laughing. It hit me that we’ve built a culture where great work and genuine connection go hand in hand. That energy fuels me every day.”

And as we continue to grow rapidly, welcoming talented newcomers across departments and geographies, we asked Luis what advice he’d give a new teammate just starting out:

“Be curious and dive right in. You’ll find teammates with all kinds of expertise, and asking questions is the fastest way to learn. Also, don’t be shy because your fresh perspective might be exactly what we need next.”

That mindset—open, humble, team-oriented—is exactly what the Spirit of ThetaRay Award is meant to highlight. Because at the core of what we do is purpose.

Our mission is to combat money laundering in all its forms—from trade-based schemes to drug trafficking, human trafficking, and other financial crimes that fuel some of the world’s darkest networks. We do this through cutting-edge AI technology and a team of people who care deeply about making a difference.

Luis brings that purpose to life. He’s not only a leader in how he delivers. He’s a connector, a learner, and a force for good. We couldn’t be prouder to recognize him. Sr. Director Head of Data Gal Hagag, describes him as a visionary who sees the end goal clearly.

As SVP of Human Resources, I must ensure that our culture shows up not just in vision decks or in our offices’ walls, but in everyday actions. People like Luis remind us what it looks like to lead with excellence, humility, heart, and purpose.

If Luis’s story resonates with you, if you’re driven to succeed,  collaborative, and looking to contribute with meaningful impact, explore our open opportunities to join ThetaRay.
